Introduction

For fans of the JAV industry, someone like RION needs little introduction. RION debuted with S1 back in 2013, two years before her debut in Gravure with Aircontrol. During most of her career, RION has been praised for her visuals, even if her acting and performances have been resulted in some debate. Nevertheless, RION is here in her debut Gravure release during her prime years. In contrast to other debuts that have been reviewed on this site, RION has been in the industry for a good amount of time, so the transition to modelling should not be as rough as what newcomers often face. Let’s see how she did.

Production & Setting

Rion at the beach in a bikini too small for her? Sign me up. This opening scene isn’t very long but it’s a nice introduction to Rion and a rare sighting of a personality (for those unaware, in JAV Rion tends to have a relatively un-enthusiastic demeanor). This setting is always great. Tons of natural lighting and sun, crystal clear waters, bright blue sky, and the reflections off the water as it runs down or hangs on Rion is great. There isn’t much to this scene outside of someone spraying water on Rion and treating the viewer to some nice up-close breast shots. From there we move to the next standard-length scene. The set isn’t too spectacular in its design, but the colors are on point. From the white and brown background and couch to the contrasting red dress Rion wears, it’s well shot all around. Speaking of Rion’s outfit, the red dress is stunning, although I cannot fathom who would wear this dress. It does not look stretched but with or without a bra Rion’s large breasts just hang out, there is no way to hide them. The remainder of the shoot focuses on Rion partially undressing and lightly rubbing her vagina, with a rather interesting vocal track that I don’t think entirely works. Lastly, the censorship. It’s bad, although I can see that there was little in a way to avoid it as Rion is shaved and the angle doesn’t give much room for improvisation, although there are some uncensored butthole shots.

From here we move on to the bathtub scene, a staple of Gravure. The setting is great and there are many elements to this setting. To start we have Rion who is wearing a shear white top and a white see-through bikini (or lingerie) underneath. The bathtub is nothing special, standard white porcelain with white and teal colored tiles and other bathroom supplies sprinkled about. The bathroom, however, has what appears to be a French door setup that opens out onto a patio where a mix of greens, whites, and yellows help to not only expand the color palette of the shot, but also increase the depth of the scene by opening up the stage to more than just a small bathroom. Shifting focus to Rion, her outfit as previously stated is great, and she begins the typical process of spraying herself with the shower head, and some genius had the idea of using a fan to move her hair around while she is standstill, which is a nice cinematic touch. From there Rion undresses, does some soapy suds fun time and the shoot ends with a masturbation scene, which is short enough I won’t crucify the film for it, but this is Aircontrol, it’s only a matter of time. One major issue of note is the excessive use of censorship blur while Rion is either wearing clothing covering the questionable areas or is presented at an angle that it would be impossible to make out anything with the water jet in the way.

Next up is an expansive food shoot, almost appearing as if it were to be a BTS shoot when I first saw it. The music is light with a nice rhythm before changing up the tone to give it more electronic city vibe. The setting is a typical kitchen with food and supplies everywhere. Rion is wearing a nice white one-piece dress, suitable for the parts where she pours syrup down her chest and you get the upwards facing camera view inside the dress. I’m no fan of these types of shoots for the most part and this one goes for a long time relative to others that I’ve seen, but at least the music keeps playing and you don’t just hear lip smacking sounds. Moving from here we have another glimpse of Rion being enthusiastic and energetic. She is now wearing a beautiful one-piece bikini and playing with some pool inflatables on a bed with a whited-out balcony in the background. The music is good, with a nice casual pace and light synths reinforcing a piano track. The room is dynamic in its various colors and doesn’t suffer from the blown out background noise from outside the window. The sounds of Rion’s breasts squishing against the rubble ball is a bit weird but it’s not the end of the world. The scene does take a bit of a twist as it moves to a much higher paced dance track of sorts and Rion starts bouncing on the ball and giving the viewers some jiggle breast action. It looks nice since its large breasts bouncing around, but it falls a little flat due to Rion’s expressions.

The next scene is a weird but entertaining intermission scene. The music has elements of rock and whistling, and the setting is Rion giving a car wash (with her breasts eventually coming out) and the perspective is mostly filmed from inside the car. It’s a fun scene for sure, and really the star of this scene are Rion’s breasts, the dress is just there so she has something to wear after the shoot. There isn’t a whole lot of visual complexity to this scene as most of it focuses on Rion’s breasts as they slide along the car windows. Moving to the last two shoots, the penultimate is the previously mentioned beach shoot and the last is a typical bedroom scene with the simulated sex component. With regards to the beach scene, it starts with a piano track as Rion has sunscreen dripped onto her legs and somewhat poorly applied by the cameraman.

The music shifts quickly from a somewhat alright piano track to some odd darker synth track. I’m not sure if I am entering an important area in a Metroid game or not with this one. Eventually Rion turns over and is just covered with sand, this marks a transition to a more upbeat track as the cameraman plays around with Rion’s breasts and bikini bottom. It looks good and you do question why some shots weren’t censored. From here we move to a nicely lit bedroom with good color balancing as the furniture is a mix of white and brown with Rion’s simple white outfit helping to complete the look. There isn’t much to mention here, there is a very faint musical score in the background but most of the sounds will come from Rion as she has sex in different positions. I’m not a fan, however, perhaps in this case Rion’s overall lack of vocal enthusiasm makes this scene sort of work. Shame it’s the longest scene of the film. Would have loved more of the opening beach scene with the red bikini over fake sex.

Score: 7.5/10 (Production), 7.5/10 (Setting)

Music

There are a lot of scenes in this film and a lot of music changes. Thankfully, almost all are good picks and work with the themes. The first shoot has a nice casual guitar piece during Rion’s time at the beach, one where she seems to be enjoying herself. It’s a light-hearted track with some treble percussion to round out what could have been a somewhat thin track. A nice track for a nice scene. The second shoot has a very different song, it’s a vocal focused song with a rock rhythm and some “east-Asian” wind instrumental sounds. It’s a little too grand and high energy for a casual posing and undressing session on a couch. It’s something I’d expect to see in some epic anime battle intro moment or something. Once Rion is mostly undressed and it’s time to move to the light body touching session, the song switches to a synth rock song of sorts. It’s a weird one with some interesting gaps between the notes. To top it off it just abruptly cuts to the next scene and a music change.

The shower scene has a very nice guitar percussion track to compliment the sound of the running water and the aesthetic of the bathroom. It gets a little heavy on the rock aspect here and there, but it tones it back enough that it suits the scene. Once Rion starts playing with the water (i.e. masturbating with the water streams), the music turns ethereal in its tone. This is a much slower and more flowing piece with soft strings and synths in the background. Eventually, as the undressing starts, there is a beautiful singular note that makes itself known to signal the presence of a more prominent string piece. This track stays throughout the upcoming masturbation part and plays overtop whatever sounds Rion is (or isn’t) making. The best track of the film. From here it’s the food play portion and the music take on another light percussion synth track, nothing upbeat pacing wise but energetic in its notation. This is a nice casual song, until the scene progresses, and we get a more energetic dirty synth track playing when Rion is licking her fingers and being covered in syrup. It creates an interesting dynamic between the slow moving Rion sucking her fingers and the upbeat EDM score.

The last three scenes have quite a changeup as well. Moving from an EDM track in the food shoot, we are now greeted with a piano piece complimented by some electronic sounds in the background. This song has depth and a moderate pacing, encouraging the viewer to enjoy the moment, which is essentially Rion rubbing her breasts along a beach ball, so not sure who is skipping that anyways. The song does take a turn for the worst temporarily as it moves to a fast-paced dance track while Rion is bouncing around, but luckily it does not last too long. From here it’s the car wash scene. This is an interesting mix of themes, from 2000s pop-rock guitar riffs with some audio transitions that almost sound like they are police helicopter megaphone announcements just muffled. This is one of the more entertaining scenes overall in the film so it’s good it received such an upbeat and energetic track. The change it makes at the end is a weird whistle piece that kind of works, luckily, it’s not there for too long.

Last but not least, the final two scenes have three tracks, getting the final scene out of the way since it is mostly sex, the track it starts with is a nice soft slow tempo piano piece that fades into the background in order to make way for the sex. It has hints of increasing depth as the notes get louder and there is notable bass, but it all fades away. The scene prior to it, however, is quite different. The initial track starts off as a casual piano piece that is upbeat before switching to some mystical synth EDM track, almost like they pulled it out of some 2000s jungle exploration level from a video game. It works somewhat, but you’ll probably be more distracted with Rion’s bouncy sand covered breasts to care. Within a few minutes the track changes for a final time to an upbeat synth-keyboard track. It is a very interesting sound and the pacing is a little too quick for what is occurring on screen.

Score: 7.5/10

Aesthetics & Performance

Rion looks great. Throughout every shoot and every outfit, she looks good. Starting from the top the red bikini beach attire and the later yellow bikini in her second to last scene were solid ensembles. Of course, they were all too small for her size, but I feel that is unavoidable. Even her one-piece bikini seen halfway through the film had difficulties holding back Rion’s sizeable breasts. The beach scenes looked great, Rion was even enjoying herself in one of them. The second scene had her in a beautiful red dress with a very very low and wide neckline (I’m no expert on dresses so I’m not sure what the correct term is). There is no way this dress can be worn by large breasted women, even if they wore a bra, large breasts just push it all aside, but nonetheless the outfit was great and being red perfectly contrasted with the monotone color palette of the set. From there it was just good outfit matching throughout. A white dress shirt with sheer white lingerie underneath for the bathtub scene, a white one piece top for the kitchen dessert portion, the yellow dress used in the car wash scene went well with the darker environment and car so as to add some visual depth, and the final outfit of another white shirt and some simple blue panties worked well to compliment the bedroom environment and didn’t clash with the color palette or mood.

Performance wise Rion did well, even in the fake sex scene. Given her experience in JAV for two years prior to this debut she had no issues posing for the camera, being photogenic and interactive when needed, and even being genuinely enthusiastic and energetic in certain portions, which is great to see from any actress and especially so from Rion, who is known for being a little flat in this department. Her best moments were probably the initial shoot at the beach and the car wash scene, in both she seemed to be quite entertained by the shoots. With regards to her sex scene, the only saving grace for while I consider it to have been well performed was because Rion isn’t that vocal. Sex scenes in Gravure are bad and one of the main reasons is over-acting on the part of the model. In some cases, you can give them some leeway if they are only a Gravure model or they are new to the business, for everyone else it’s a fail on the part of the production crew and actress. In this case Rion made it bearable so that gets some kudos.

Score: 8/10 (Aesthetics), 7.5/10 (Performance)

Summary

Rion is eye candy for many and in something such as Gravure where looks are one of, if not the primary factor to determine the success of a film, she hits the mark without much work. In terms of an Aircontrol film, this is a must-see if you are a fan of the studio, and certainly if you are a fan of Rion or women with large breasts. The set pieces are good and varied, albeit some were too short, the filming is well done, the music for the most part works, the food play portion while not my thing still looked good overall, and the sex scene, the bane of Gravure and of Aircontrol is at least tolerable. It doesn’t waste a good outfit or set and is well filmed at least so it’s not the worst. The worst offender of this film would have to be the censorship. It is present in essentially three spots throughout the film, two masturbation scenes, which is understandable, and one during half of the shower bathing scene, where large amounts of water and literal clothing obscure any possibility of seeing anything obscene. That is terrible use of censors. All in all, a good film and a must see for Gravure fans.
