Introduction
Akane Yoshinaga debuted in the JAV industry in February of 2013, ten months prior to her debut in gravure, and so this is her debut film with GAIA, a relatively new label in the gravure scene by this point. In terms of a label, GAIA embraces the more music + setting style that you see with larger studios such as REbecca, however, they sometimes take it to comical levels with the music choices, but we’ll see how Akane’s film does in this department won’t we? Let’s head into the review.
Production & Setting
Score: 7.5/10 (Production), 7/10 (Setting)
Music
To start off the first scene we get a light hearted piano piece that plays well with Akane’s personality and could be played against a summer backdrop at a beach or in a park. Once the clothes come off the tone changes quite a bit, it becomes more mystical in it’s presentation, with a good bass that helps to amplify the playful and young personality of Akane while also building up the grandeur that Akane’s breasts appear to be. The music is properly reducing in volume when Akane speaks, which is always a welcome effort from a viewer perspective.
The playful attitude remains during the couch scene but it is a slower tempo than before and thus the piano is set at a deeper tone before being replaced by bass and moving up the register. Akane has taken more of a gravure pose in these parts, less playful, more glamour. The next scene plays music that is almost somber in its tone, which is odd but also welcoming, until it’s blasted off into space and replaced by a more upbeat piano track with some background percussion to dull some of the strong sounds coming from the piano. The piece gets faster with added light percussion instruments as Akane works to pose while taking apart her outfit.
The pool scene has very upbeat music, very reminiscent of a tropical vacation video, but it works as the scene is at least colorful enough both in terms of backdrop and Akane’s personality to pull it off. Then the piano comes in for an upbeat solo as the cutting of the swimwear begins and then it mellows out to a more casual whimsical tone with a flute to supplement the sound. The underwater shots are ok but the more annoying part is the unedited sound of a microphone being underwater.
From here on out its a similar theme, but the bathtub scene takes the cake with a more mystical soundtrack serving to compliment a more promiscuous Akane thanks to the bath suds, all before changing to a guitar solo that is trying to reinforce a more erotic tone as the shower head massages Akane. It then reverts to a light hearted piano track before being abruptly cut for the masturbation part and then returning afterwards. The dark UV light bathroom scene doesn’t have much more than a basic jazzy sensual beat that people could stereotype with being in a porn film. And finally the penultimate scene, as the last scene really has more of the same light hearted piano serving as the backdrop to Akane’s playfulness before the sex scene, this 2nd last scene is well done aesthetically and musically, bringing with it the 2000s dance club vibe, until the masturbation scene steps in again.
Score: 7/10
Aesthetics & Performance
Performance wise throughout the film Akane is bubbly and enthusiastic but also able to transition to a more glamour pose personality when needed. The exception being the masturbation and fake sex scene at the end. These I do not feel do justice to her acting ability, however I have not seen her JAV to be able to comment on how well she can act during actual sex. During the majority of the film she was interacting with the camera/viewer and generally had an upbeat attitude and worked well for the most part with the scenes and the music, with some exceptions here and there, such as the aforementioned scenes or the UV shower scene.
Score: 7/10 (Aesthetics), 7.5/10 (Performance)
